Task 9: Journalist

Hi everyone!!!!!! How are you, guys?  I’m Elena, this week’s journalist and, as a consequence of this, I’m going to explain what we have done during this week:

As every week, Linda, our teacher, posted the instructions of the task on the LMS, so we started to read them. This week the task was about Leadership styles…

First of all, we had to read some information about the four basic leadership styles. You may not know the types of leaderships there are, so, I will explain a little the four that exist and their meaning:

- Authoritarian leadership style: having control, planning everything, lack of flexibility and, above all, following a protocol. Giving little importance to emotions, human problems… The leader makes his/her own decisions without taking into account other people’s opinion.

- Participative leadership style: respect is very important. It is about collaboration with everybody and also the creation of a family atmosphere.

- Transactional leadership style: it has a lot of organization, but it does not necessarily cause improvement. It looks for the benefit, rewards and punishments.

- Transformational leadership style: it generates feelings focusing on what is important for employees, what affects their performance and achievement. It has moral values, like freedom, equality, peace… From the other part, it motivates his/her followers and inspire them, so we can say that it is about a consideration of individuals. A transformational leader also provides autonomic motivation, loyalty and commitment.

After reading the different leadership styles, we had to choose one because the star (on the presentation day) had to make a 10 minutes campaign for presenting herself. In this campaign, she had to show her style without naming it and telling the characteristics of the school.

So we decided to choose the authoritarian leadership. And maybe you are thinking right now, why this one? Well, the thing is that we thought that it will be the most funny one and also the easiest to show its characteristics.

 The day of the presentation arrived, our star was very nervous but I have to say that she performed perfectly!!! Here are few photos of the presentation day:

So… This is everything, guys. I would like to finish this post with a photo of our whole team. We work really hard each week and we give the best of us in order to learn each week more and more.

Task 9: Translator

Hi there! It’s Bea and, this week, I play translator’s role. Thus, my duty is reflecting the five crucial points of the ninth task called Leadership styles : To begin with, leadership is considered a paramount aspect to mention. It is the ability to coordinate and guide a group in order to achieve a goal. There are four leadership profiles: - Authoritarian : the word that better represents these people is ‘control’, since subordinates’ autonomy is actually restricted. Affection and friendly atmospheres are absent in authoritarian contexts, as the real goal is objectivity and productivity. This kind of leaders give priority to loyalty, instead of merits or personal achievements. They use ‘forcing’ and manipulative methods to ensure rules are respected and objectives achieved. Task 4: Stars

Hello! This week the division of roles is the following: - Ana is the facilitator. - Natalia is a worker. - Ángela is the curator-farmer. - Andrea is the journalist. - Bea and Sara are the stars. - Irene is the translator. - Elena is the analyst.  Our names are Bea and Sara and this week we are the stars of task 4:  TREASURE HUNT: CARTOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS ! This is the first time we have this role and that is why we are kind of nervous. However, the fact that there are two stars relax us a great deal. We will do our best and try that you learn a lot with us on Wednesday's presentation. We will talk about distorting media students are in touch with and we will focus on maps and textbooks. Later, we will do a treasure hunt related to a topic that we believe is not given as much importance as necessary. That is all we can say for the moment... See you on Wednesday! Lovely Teachers.
