Task 10: Reflection

Hi there!  My name is Irene, and I am this week's analyst. For that reason I will reflect on the task of this week:  Schools Organized, Schools that Learn. First, we would like to highlight one of the best parts of doing this activity has been discovering by  ourselves how we have improved, not only in English, but also in terms of creativity and in looking for  different resources when we have problems. Moreover, we have also appreciated a huge difference  taking into account the amount of knowledge we had at the beginning of the semester, and the one we  have now. That is why we really enjoyed carrying out this activity, since we realized we knew more  things that we first thought. On the other hand, as we perfectly knew the format we had to use for wednesday presentation, we  found its creation much easier and relaxed. We guess that is the main reason why we enjoyed it that  much! Bearing in mind the least interesting pa...

Task 9: Reflection

Hello everyone, My name is Ángela and this is my second time being analyst. This week we have learned four types of leadership, authoritarian style, participative style, transactional style and transformational style. And according to the characteristics of the school we have invented, we have chosen one style. It has taught us an important thing, that is, to make suitable choices taking into account the context in which we are. It helps us a lot as future teachers because the decisions we will have to take depend on the students' attitude, motivation, behaviour and characteristics. For example, it is a good idea to implement authoritarian style in a class were students do not behave properly and do not care about learning, but, on the other hand it is a horrible idea to put that style in practice in a class where there are brilliant students. Besides, when we wrote the text that our fantastic star, Sara, presented on Friday during her campaign, we learned how to put in comm...

TASK 8: Reflection

Hello everybody! I am Andrea and this week I have to make a reflection about a task called Stop-motionING basics for a New Educational Law . As we already know, it has a crucial role in our profession as teachers, so... pay attention! To begin with, our objective was to elaborate a stop-motion in which the main concepts of the Decalogue developed by the platform #porotrapoliticaeducativa were represented. Therefore, we thought of a creative way to illustrate them: the jelly beans. On Wednesday, after presenting our project in class, we participated in the “Eurovision contest” celebrated there, but, unfortunately, we did not get a really good position. This fact was a bit disappointing for us, since we believed that our work had not been valued enough. But, it was only a game! After all, we consider we have made a good job using our creativity and imagination. However, as a group, we need to improve some aspects, such as the elaboration of different posts and the organization of...

Task 7.2: Reflection

Hi everyone!! I am here again to make a brilliant reflection about this week's task called Complexity & relationships . As you know, last week we worked Complexity of schools , but... what about connections and relationships in school? After reading the chapter that Linda, our teacher, published for us, we got some general ideas about it. But, we got a deeper understanding when we had to think of some dialogues for making five short plays. On the one hand, we thought about reflecting creative fiction situations which included the different connections and relationships. But, thinking deeper, we realized they are not fiction situations, but real ones. This is mainly because, in our daily lives as future teachers, we will probably have to get through most of these examples we have created. And... we believe there is not a better way to understand it than putting ourselves in some real teachers' shoes. Unfortunately, it was not possible to play our sketches on Wednesda...

Task 7.1: Reflection

Hey everybody, what’s up?Wwe are so glad of having you here once again. Our last task’s title was: “Complexity and Relationships”. Complexities were something we had never heard about before Monday 9th, so we had to start by reading and searching articles and news about the complexities of schools. But the task wasn’t so easy, after understanding what each of the six complexities mean, we had to find one news related to each of them. Personally, this was the worst part of the activity because we spent so much time looking for news. If we take the look back, we find that above all we’ve learn two different things: the first one is to cooperate with other groups. We struggled a bit here because, as you know each person works in a different way and until the moment, we had worked with the same group for almost 2 months, so it was a bit difficult but at the end we managed to get on well, and we did our newspaper. The second thing we have learnt is about how schools a...

Task 6: Reflection

Hi everyone! My name is Ana and I am the analyst of Task 6. Consequently, I am going to evaluate the work of the group. In my view, the best part of the activity has been discovering the considerable amount of existing techniques in order to create a comic panel. I also would like to outstand our eagerness so as to create a brilliant one. But, as we know… every rainbow has its storm. Regarding the worse part I would say it has been our indecision and lack of coherent ideas at the beginning of the task. We spent at least two hours deciding how we were going to organize our comic so as to obtain an excellent result. Moreover, we were also stressed and worn out. However, we knew how to overcome the situation and focus on our work. With regard to the best moment of the week I would say it was when we left the classroom and went out in order to take some pictures for our photo-novel. We enjoyed a lot and it was also a perfect opportunity to bring out all our creativity. Proba...

Task 5: Reflection

Hi everyone! My name is Bea and I am this week’s analyst. So, on behalf of my teammates and me, I will reflect on task 5:  the dark side of textbooks . First and foremost, we want to outstand that one of the best parts of carrying this activity out has been exploring the world of textbooks, especially their drawbacks. Moreover, some members consider artistic works appealing and have an entertaining time while creating them! Something that could sound obvious, but most of us think, is that we enjoy doing these activities in English. They allow us to have a wider vocabulary in our second language, increasing the variety of concepts we are familiar with, so as to be more fluent in our speaking and writing. Regarding the least interesting parts of doing activities like this one is the fact of having to stay at the university on Mondays in order to work. They require a lot of time and we end up actually tired in the end of the day. However, we ought to look on the bright side a...

Task 4: Reflection

Hi there!,  I'm Elena and this week I have a very important role: I am the analyst! The first thing I want to emphasize is the wonderful work that we have done during this week, because I think it reflects our improvement as a group during all these weeks. Apart from this, I would also like to comment and reflect on our work and what we have done. For me, the best part of the activity was the cooperative part because, as far as I'm concerned, this is really important. We shared and compared different ideas and doing this, we have learned a lot while preparing the task. But not everything can be good... If I have to go through the  worst part of the activity, maybe could be that we had to do many things and also a lot of work and that causes us stress. As I said before, this week we worked well, so from my  point of view, we must maintain this until the last moment and also maintain cooperation and the connection we have between us. The thing that we sho...

Task 3: Reflection

This week we were told to enroll in a completely new adventure: Creative Commons License and knowing how to be a good presenter; and although it seemed an easy task, with its development we discovered it was just a myth. We see this activity has had many benefits for our development as teachers, since nowadays the fact of respecting others work online or exactly knowing how to teach something without boring is not taken into account. Many teachers usually feel lost when trying to give a lesson using digital media such as PowerPoint and they do not realise, most of their students are sleepy during their speech. Moreover, internet is also a marvelous tool for sharing music, pictures, videos…; but also for “stealing” them. Yes, I say stealing because many students nowadays do it without knowing when they pick pictures or videos for their projects at school. Due to this two things, we extremely feel this project is crucial for us to know, due to the fact that in the future we will be teac...

Task 2: Reflection

After reading what we had to do for the task of this week, we were asked for doing an information map based on the article related to what TPACK is. In the first moment, almost nobody would know what exactly is and what it is for. We guess Linda taught us this to introduce her students in the world of technology and to be familiar with some advances it brings. When our group had to decide what exactly to do, it was a little bit difficult due to it is not something common to do in this degree. However, when we all knew the official idea of what we wanted to present, we worked as a family. This is what we have enjoyed the most so, we have come to the conclusion that, probably, it was one of the main things Linda wanted to show us; the necessity to collaborate and work as a real team. Nevertheless, it hasn’t been so easy as it seems, because of several problems that needed to be solved and we didn’t know how to do it. As a result of doing this task, we are aware of the importance of ...

Task 1: Reflection

In our whole life as students, teachers have asked us to do numerous reflections; but the thing is that they have never explained to us what a reflection exactly consists of. After Linda's class, we realized that reflecting is not only about telling what happened, but it is also useful for being aware of our failures. Therefore, it allows us to make changes in our ways of acting in order to obtain more successful consequences in our decisions. Furthermore, we consider this class as a crucial one, not only as students, but also as future teachers. We would also like to highlight the similarity of this task with Dale's Pyramid, since the more involved and active you are in your learning, the better and for longer you will remember and master the content. Moreover, in our last day's reflection, it was also paramount the fact that we shared our reflections with our peers. If we just focus on our own ideas, we will never realize that there are "other colour...
