Task 6: References

Imagen
Hi! I am Irene, and this week I am the curator- farmer of the group. That is why, I have selected the links we have used for this activity, that, in this occasion, are too little since the task was mainly made by us. I have included the link of the app we used for creating our photo novel: Fotor, and also the two blogs our journalist commented this week. Here you have the link of the map to better see it: https://www.mindomo.com/mindmap/curator-farmer-irene-task-6-1e3ede16f2289119e22ebad184cdd72c See you! L.T.♥

Task 6: Translator

Hi everyone!  I’m Elena and this week I am the translator so I’m going to explain you the most important concepts that we had worked during this week. - Photo novel: is a story, usually based on a film, consisting of chronological photographs  or film stills with dialogue enclosed in ballons, as in the style of a comic book. - Infography : a picture or diagram or a group of pictures or diagrams showing or explaining information.  - Cave art : They are painted drawings on cave walls or ceilings, mainly of prehistoric origin.  - Auca : a member of a group of indigenous people of western or southern South America.  -Modern comic: a stylized picture of an object representing a word, syllable, or sound, as found in ancient Egyptian and certain other writing systems.

Task 6: Journalist

Hey! My name is Sara and this week I will be the journalist of Lovely Teachers group. This Monday Linda explained us what the sixth task, called Comic life , was about. For doing it, we had to make a brief where we named the 10 key concepts or ideas we have learned in the previous 5 tasks. This brief was not the same for every group, since we made a raffle to distribute all the different ways or techniques to make our comic. These techniques were: Cave Art activity, Hieroglyph, Before and after perspective, Photo–novel, Magazine covers, Superhero Comic, Auca, and Modern Comic. After doing this raffle, we got photo-novel. This consists in a story, usually based on a film or TV episode, consisting of chronological photographs or film stills with dialogue enclosed in ballons, as in the style of a comic book. The first thing we did was thinking about what concepts were appropriated to chose this work. Finally, we chose the following ideas: infographic, blogging, distortion, T

Task 6: Reflection

Hi everyone! My name is Ana and I am the analyst of Task 6. Consequently, I am going to evaluate the work of the group. In my view, the best part of the activity has been discovering the considerable amount of existing techniques in order to create a comic panel. I also would like to outstand our eagerness so as to create a brilliant one. But, as we know… every rainbow has its storm. Regarding the worse part I would say it has been our indecision and lack of coherent ideas at the beginning of the task. We spent at least two hours deciding how we were going to organize our comic so as to obtain an excellent result. Moreover, we were also stressed and worn out. However, we knew how to overcome the situation and focus on our work. With regard to the best moment of the week I would say it was when we left the classroom and went out in order to take some pictures for our photo-novel. We enjoyed a lot and it was also a perfect opportunity to bring out all our creativity. Proba

Task 6: Our star

Imagen
Hello! I am Andrea and a star of this week, I would like to show you the wonderful photo-novel we have done. Today, I have presented it in front of the whole class. I was very nervous but, finally, it has been amazing. Thanks to everyone for listening the presentation and reading the post!

Task 5: References

Hi everyone!  My name is Ana, and as a curator-farmer, I have had to collect all the resources we have used in Task 5: The dark side of textbooks. As the previous curator-farmers, I have also included the references used in the preceding tasks. With regard to such task, I have added those links our teacher gave us in order to better understand the activity. Here you have two screenshots in which you can see it.  I also put the general link to have a clearer sight:  https://www.mindomo.com/es/mindmap/1e3ede16f2289119e22ebad184cdd72c  If you have any doubt, please ask us!!! Have a nice week! Lovely Teachers ❤️

Task 5: Reflection

Hi everyone! My name is Bea and I am this week’s analyst. So, on behalf of my teammates and me, I will reflect on task 5:  the dark side of textbooks . First and foremost, we want to outstand that one of the best parts of carrying this activity out has been exploring the world of textbooks, especially their drawbacks. Moreover, some members consider artistic works appealing and have an entertaining time while creating them! Something that could sound obvious, but most of us think, is that we enjoy doing these activities in English. They allow us to have a wider vocabulary in our second language, increasing the variety of concepts we are familiar with, so as to be more fluent in our speaking and writing. Regarding the least interesting parts of doing activities like this one is the fact of having to stay at the university on Mondays in order to work. They require a lot of time and we end up actually tired in the end of the day. However, we ought to look on the bright side and t

Task 5: Final Presentation

Hey! On Wednesday, before doing our presentation, Linda asked us for taking notes about the rest of our classmates' presentations. Then, she told us to create a presentation, using "Genially", based on quotes and photos for explaining 'the dark side of textbooks' according to our mates' opinions. Here I let you our final presentation, where we explained the main concepts we have learnt by listening our classmates: https://view.genial.ly/5a9fc5c4b13ff079ed431658/the-dark-side-of-textbooks Thanks!!

Task 5: Commenting other blogs

Imagen
Apart from writing the story of the group, as a journalist, I had to comment other blogs as usually. We decided to comment Teach Perfect’s blog since we think it is full of amazing ideas and posts. Furthermore, they reflect their original ideas and use wonderful colours to show their works. That is why we love their blog. http://teachperfectum.blogspot.com.es/ We have also commented in a blog which has inspired us a lot to develop successfully this week’s task. Its author has included different images and even videos to illustrate his ideas, something we find really interesting and we will try to put into practice as soon as possible. Moreover, his way of expressing his own opinion, using rhetoric questions or dividing the information in different sections has incredibly inspired us! On the other hand, we loved that he included different perspectives of other people in his exposition which definitely made us enrich our task.  http://blogs.nottingham.ac.uk/primaryedu

Task 5: Translator

Hey there! I'm Natalia and today, in the Translator part of this task, I would like to highlight several key  concepts that in my opinion are crucial for this theme. First of all, we need to know what a   textbook is. We could consider it a book used for the study of a particular subject, that can be  also used to learn some contents and methods that can be useful for the specific subject (as I have previously said). It causes lots of discrepancies related to how useful and important they are. We could also stand out the term comfort , due to the fact that teachers feel really comfortable  and secure with textbooks. They don’t have to do a really hard work when they use them and  only guide the classes with the contents that are treated in them, without using a critical view of the contents. Related to some characteristics of textbooks, we could stand out the concept of publishers .  These publishers have a great relationship with textbooks because they are the peo

Task 5: History

Imagen
Hii!!  I am Ángela, the journalist of this week. So, let's start... As all the previous weeks, on Monday Linda explained us what we had to do in this new task called ''The dark side of textbooks''. First of all, we had to read some documents to obtain different information. Some examples of these documents are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textbook http://elbonia.cent.uji.es/jordi/2012/03/04/libros-de-texto-electronicos-peras-al-olmo/ The task's objective was to do a campaign against the use of textbooks as basic resources in classrooms. For doing that, we had to decide which format we were going to use. There were three options: An  info-graphic  is the display of information in such a way that it can be easily understood at a glance. A  Twitter timeline  is a list of tweets or messages from people you follow or people in a  Twitter  list. A  fable  is a short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects

Task 4: Translator

Imagen
Hi! I’m Irene, this week’s translator. :) In this task, we are working with: Cartographic projections and treasure hunts, for this reason I will choose five concepts related to this topic, and that in our opinion are the most important. Firstly, the Mercator projection (1) is known as a map projection created by Gerardus Mercator in 1569. In this type, the meridians are drawn parallel to each other in vertical lines; and the parallels of latitude are straight lines whose distance between each other increases with their distance from the Equator. Apart from that, we also find the Robinson projection (2). It is also a map projection, but, in this case, the poles are shown as lines instead of points. The purpose of Robinson is finding a good consensus on the problem of easily showing the entire globe in a flat image besides, making world map ‘’looking right’’, rather than measure precisely. On the other hand, we find the Azimuthal projection (3) which is another
