Task 2: Translator

Hi! I’m Andrea.
As a translator, I have been asked to collect the five main terms of this week’s work.

“TPACK” (1) has been the principal concept we have been working. We can define it as a complicated interaction between three different types of knowledge, which are crucial to understand the dynamics of the task. The technological knowledge refers to the ability to use the technological tools. The pedagogical one is related to the way of teaching as well as to the methods and procedures to act in the classroom. To complete this cycle, it is necessary to mention the content knowledge, that is, teachers’ wisdom about the subject matter.

The interaction between these terms leads to the appearance of three new subdimensions:

- The pedagogical content knowledge (2) emerges from the connection between pedagogy and content, and it can be defined as a way of teaching certain knowledge to the students (brainstorming).

- The technological pedagogical knowledge (3) involves the changes that technology can make in the teaching and learning processes (how to attract the attention of students using particular technological tools and resources).

- The technological content knowledge (4) is a useful and effective way of managing information and data that results from the mutual impact between technology and content (using the calculator to solve problems, for example).

All these terms wouldn’t be possible without the existence of the context (5), the set of circumstances and facts that modulate actions and possibilities, such as teachers’ professional development or use of technology, in extremely powerful ways.
