Task 3: Translator
Hi there!
As the translator of this week’s task Telling stories: free resources and visual presentations, I have to develop the five main ideas Lovely teachers’ consider crucial.
First of all, we want to highlight that Creative Commons License help us share our copyright works. There are six kinds of licenses regarding the way we want others make use of our creations. So, if we want others to have access to our work, with credits to us and the possibility to change it, but not to have monetary benefits, we would use an attribution-noncommercial licence, for instance.
Secondly, a good presentation is the one that reflects the main ideas of the work, replacing lots of writing by images, videos and other resources that catch the audience’s attention. Important steps that must be taken into account in order to carry out an appropriate presentation include: simplicity (concise ideas are better than giving loads of details that could lead to confusion) and care (visuals will be easily processed if you make the public aware of the most important points through a set of techniques, such as contrast or hierarchy). Furthermore, this week we have been aware of the fact that slides with white spaces outstand the importance of certain ideas, so we do not need to fill them with irrelevant information.
Regarding the speech, we want to mention the importance of fluency. We need to have loads of knowledge about the issue we are talking about, but also on how to transmit it in an effective way. People who do not read, get straight to the point, encourage the audience to get involved and have fluency while presenting a topic are positively assessed by the listeners and keep their attention for longer. Being original is also paramount when doing a presentation. Once again, our aim is catching the public’s attention, but this time, with innovative ways, such as keeping people interested through our corporal expression or rhetorical questions.
We hope you have enjoyed this post and have a general idea of licenses and effective presentations. For deeper information, we will upload other posts related to this topic. However, if you cannot wait for them, you can also leave a comment asking any possible doubts!
Thanks for reading,
Lovely teachers.
