Task 7.2: Star

Hi! I'm Andrea and, as the star of the week, I had to direct a set of sketchs we had to create about the different types of connections in the learning process. This is why I am going to present the five videos we have made so that you can take advantage of them whenever you want:

PART 1: TEACHER-STUDENT CONNECTION

As we know, teachers have a great impact on students’ learning because they are in charge of creating an appropriate environment for learning.
To explain such relation, our first play tells the story of a girl who was being disrupted by her classmates. This was because she did not have the toy on fashion other children had in common. At first, she tried to hide her feelings. However, one day, she told her teacher and she tried her best to help the girl.

PART 2: CONNECTIONS WITH PEERS

In this sketch we can see how belonging to certain groups such as ‘’nerds’’, ‘’rebels’’ or ‘’sporty’’ affect students’ academic achievement. Students within the labelled groups have an image which can influence the students’ attitude toward learning and the expectations their peers and teachers have of them.
Besides, researches have noticed benefits for learning, achievement and classroom environment when collaborative learning occurs within the classroom setting.
That’s why in our play, two students who belong to two different groups ‘’nerds’’ and ‘’sporty’’ are expected to obtain different marks. But, when one of them help the other, in a collaborative learning way, the expectations change and the teacher gets surprised.

PART 3: CONNECTIONS WITHIN THE LEARNING CONTEXT

In this short dialogue, we will talk about how a good learning context can affect students and their academic development. As we all know, learning is influenced by the context. This is why a good relation between teachers and students is essential for learning.

PART 4: CONNECTIONS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

This sketch reflects an online learning environment in which several students have the opportunity to ask their teacher different questions regarding the final exam. Moreover, he will also give them some study techniques. To carry this out, both teacher and students will make a video conference in ooVoo.
We have chosen this strategy, the videoconference, since it represents an alternative way of learning outside the classroom.

PART 5: CONNECTIONS WITHIN LEARNING

Connections within learning occurs on three levels: the individual learner, the group and the development of knowledge itself. To represent some of them, we have created a sketch in which a teacher tell her students to carry out an activity. The objective is to connect their prior to new knowledge. Moreover, her intention is putting into practice the process of scaffolding in which she will guide students’ process of active learning.
